REWARD POSTED IN NORTH PLAINFIELD CARJACKING


Somerville – Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest and North Plainfield Chief of Police William Parenti are requesting information regarding a carjacking that occurred on December 24, 2007, in the K-Mart parking lot on Route 22 in North Plainfield.

Douglas W. Kimmelman, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Crime Stoppers of Somerset County has announced a reward of $2,000.00 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment of the individual responsible for the carjacking.

Prosecutor Forrest stated at approximately 5:48 PM a Hispanic female age 37, from Green Brook, was parked in her 1990 Red Volvo 740 station wagon in the K- Mart parking lot and exited her vehicle when a male actor approached her from behind, pointed a dark colored handgun at her head and ordered her to get back into the car and drive. The actor then entered the vehicle with the victim and they drove around North Plainfield for several minutes and eventually turned onto Clinton Avenue. The actor pointed the gun at the victim’s head again and ordered her out of the vehicle. Once she exited the vehicle, the actor sped off south on Clinton Avenue towards Plainfield. The vehicle has not yet been recovered.

The victim described the actor as a 30-35 year old black male, approximately 6’02” tall with a thin build, dark complexion with a light beard. He was last seen wearing a grey “hoodie” style sweatshirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.

Prosecutor Forrest said a composite sketch of the suspect was completed with the assistance of a police sketch artist.
