Somerset County Crime Stoppers Arrest

Somerville, NJ – Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest has announced the arrest of one of the Crime Stoppers Most Wanted fugitives.

Prosecutor Forrest stated that in the Sunday, March 7, 2004 edition of the Courier News newspaper, defendant Brian Carson was featured as the weekly Most Wanted fugitive. Defendant Carson was wanted for failure to appear for sentencing on charges of conspiracy, possession of heroin and theft. After numerous investigative attempts to locate and apprehend defendant Carson had failed, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive Task Force provided defendant Carson’s photograph to the Courier News to be featured in the weekly Most Wanted column. As part of the new Somerset County Crime Stoppers Reward Program, a $250.00 reward was offered for information leading to the defendant’s arrest. Recently, an anonymous tipster contacted the Somerset County Crime Stoppers TIPS Line, which was answered by the Somerset County Central Communications Center. The information supplied by the anonymous caller was provided to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive Task Force, who on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 with the assistance of the Plainfield Police, were able to locate and arrest defendant Carson at one of his relative’s residences located on Grant Avenue in Plainfield, New Jersey.

Douglas W. Kimmelman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Somerset County Crime Stoppers Program, stated that this is the Somerset County Crime Stoppers second tip since beginning its reward program on February 29, 2004 for the weekly Most Wanted fugitives featured in the Sunday Courier News and the weekly Messenger Gazette/Reporter newspapers. Accordingly, this anonymous caller will receive a $250.00 reward.
