Crime Stoppers Offers Reward For Arrest of Most Wanted For Attempted Murder

Somerville, NJ – Somerset County Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest and Bound Brook Chief of Police Kenneth Henderson have reported that Douglas W. Kimmelman, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Crime Stoppers of Somerset County, Inc., has announced a $500.00 reward for information leading to the arrest of a Bound Brook man on charges of attempted murder.

Prosecutor Forrest stated that on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 defendant German Mamani, age 31, of New Hampshire Lane, Bound Brook, appeared at his ex-wife’s residence on Talmadge Avenue, Bound Brook shortly before midnight. Present in the residence were his ex-wife, two young children, a year and a half old boy and a three year old girl, and a 36 year old man from South Bound Brook, who was visiting. After the defendant surreptitiously entered the residence with keys he retained from when he lived there, he immediately lunged at the male victim, stabbing him numerous times with a large knife in the head, neck, arm and hands, even as the victim fell helplessly and defenseless to the floor. The defendant then fled the scene and the Bound Brook police were contacted. The victim was transported to Somerset Medical Center. In searching the area, the Bound Brook police located a knife believed to have been used by the defendant in his attempt to murder the victim. It was also reported to detectives that the defendant brought the knife with him.

Prosecutor Forrest and Chief Henderson state that the Bound Brook police along with detectives from the Major Crimes Squad of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office are continuing their investigation as well as attempting to locate defendant Mamani. Prosecutor Forrest stated that defendant Mamani is presently wanted for First Degree Attempted Murder and Third Degree Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose.
